Target Audience

Designed for gamers aged 25-45 who grew up with classic arcade shooters and crave that nostalgic experience in a modern, browser-based format.

Nostalgic Gamers

Adults who remember the golden age of arcades: Top Gun, After Burner, 1942. They want quick, fun sessions without downloads or installations.

Casual Browser Players

People looking for a quick gaming break during work or commute. No app store, no download—just open and play.

Competitive Spirits

Players who love leaderboards and high scores. The thrill of beating your personal best or topping global rankings.

Background

Can AI help build an entire game from scratch? This project explores the boundaries of AI-assisted game development while creating a genuinely fun arcade experience.

The Insight

Classic arcade games have timeless appeal, but modern monetization relies on intrusive ads. What if we could integrate brands naturally into the game environment?

The Opportunity

Ambient brand placement—billboards in the game world, sponsored power-ups, branded aircraft—creates revenue without breaking immersion.

Brand Placement Strategy

Non-intrusive monetization that enhances rather than interrupts the gaming experience

Environmental Billboards

In-game billboards and banners on aircraft carriers, islands, and buildings. Brands appear naturally in the game world without pop-ups or interruptions.

Sponsored Power-Ups

Energy drinks, tech brands, or automotive sponsors can power your aircraft. "Boost sponsored by [Brand]" feels natural in an arcade context.

Branded Aircraft Skins

Unlock special aircraft with brand liveries. Players get unique planes, brands get visibility—everyone wins.

Time-Limited Campaigns

Seasonal events with brand partnerships. Launch a new product? Create a special mission or themed game mode around it.

Problem

Mobile and browser games rely on intrusive ads that break immersion and frustrate players. Classic arcade nostalgia is underserved in modern gaming.

Goal

Create an instantly playable arcade experience that monetizes through ambient brand integration, not pop-ups. Prove AI can build a complete game.

Solution

A browser-based naval/air combat game with environmental brand placement, built entirely with AI assistance to explore new development paradigms.

Core Game Features

Classic arcade mechanics with modern touches

Dual Combat Modes

Switch between naval battles and air combat. Control battleships or fighter jets in fast-paced arcade action.

Quick Sessions

Games last 3-5 minutes—perfect for a break. No commitment, no save files, just pure arcade fun.

Browser-Based

No downloads, no installations. Works on any device with a modern browser. Share a link and play instantly.

Global Leaderboards

Compete for high scores worldwide. Daily, weekly, and all-time rankings keep players coming back.

Power-Up System

Collect power-ups for shields, rapid fire, and special weapons. Strategic collection adds depth to simple mechanics.

Non-Intrusive Monetization

No pop-up ads, no forced video watches. Revenue comes from ambient brand integration that enhances the experience.

Design Process

AI-assisted game development from concept to playable

01

Week 1-2: Concept & Mechanics

  • Researched classic arcade games: After Burner, 1942, Top Gun NES
  • Defined core loop: quick sessions, high score chasing, instant restarts
  • Sketched brand placement opportunities that feel natural
  • Built first playable prototype with AI assistance (v0 + Cursor)
02

Week 3: Visual Design & Polish

  • Created retro-modern visual style: neon accents on dark backgrounds
  • Designed billboard and environmental brand integration zones
  • Added particle effects, explosions, and satisfying feedback
  • Optimized for smooth performance across devices
03

Week 4: Playtesting & Refinement

  • Tested with 10+ players for difficulty balancing
  • Iterated on controls for keyboard and touch
  • Added leaderboard system and social sharing
  • Documented AI development process and learnings

Key Learnings

  • AI accelerates, doesn't replace: The creative vision and design decisions still need human judgment.
  • Nostalgia is powerful: Simple mechanics with polish outperform complex systems.
  • Brand integration works: When done thoughtfully, it enhances rather than detracts from the experience.
